Endless Pools


The temperature’s really down here in delhi but that doesn’t discourage me to go for my swimming session at Vihar Club. Swimming and circuits were always my favorite exercise forms .Ofcourse I also like to pump irons in gym but I prefer swimming more than any other cardio vascular exercise .I am not a regular at club but I try my best to be there for atleast 10-12 times a month. Believe me swimming can magically enhance your body stamina. Now a days I can clock 10km everyday on treadmill and 8km on road, Although I don’t do road running now a dayz. Initially it was not like that...I was under weight by almost 8 kgs.My gym instructor was very strict about my warm up exercises. He insisted on just 3 kms, twice a week regime on the threadmill along with 3 sets of pushups and chin ups, that too with long breaks. I could not understand it at that time.His theory was that iam already very low on calories .so there’s no point in wasting calories on base exercises like pushup,chin ups, threadmills etc.He warned me against doing the threadmill daily.I also figured it out that whenever I try to exceed 6kms mark, I feel terribly tired. And that tiring feeling slogs for atleast 3-4 days.It was really very irritating. But then I started my swimming and it dramatically improved my stamina. Now I don do the traditional Lat,back,Biceps,Triceps,Leg excercises cycle...rather I prefer circuit exercises which are fast n compact.Circuit exercises increases your blood circulation through out the body and is a awesome way to boost the cardio vascular system.sand bag and parallel bar are the preferred exercises.I do 30 reps for every type in total 3 sets separated by the break of few seconds.

Coming back to swimming, U can feel
every upper and lower muscle after a ½ hr stint.swimming offers great flexibility and u can change the area of focus within few moments.The best part is that lower and lats are getting worked out, irrespective of the form.In initials u can start with 100m breast strokes gradually promoting the levels to back stroke and ultimately to butterfly.For starters fins or paddles can be used.Butterfly Stroke consumes lot of energy and depends on strong movements of leg and sweeping action of hands. I saw some ingenious ideas here ....like- One arm stroke, head touch, fist first sculling, Head first sculling.All these exercises are focused on developing the lat muscles,back muscles and the neck muscles.Once yor are done with the basic forms you can either do the endurance Swimming or Fast pace swimming.In endurance I swim continuously for 200m and then take a short break of 60secs after which I try to roll back the 200m.I increase the level according to my food n beverage intakes. So when M gulping 7-8 pegs of vodka and eating more than 1/2 kgs of non-veg I make it a point to increase my level to 250m or 300m.... Fast swimming is totally based on time.It’s like improving on the duration every time ur attempting a fast pace exercise.You can use the pool clock for that.At present I manage to clock 1min 50 secs for a single 100m swim-through, but this duration increases significantly wen I try two fast paces in seccession.The second swim through almost takes 2min20 secs...Ya ya I knw it’s too slow compared to the first.

Well u knw wat besides the usual benefits there’s also a gd benefit in swimming...U can always soak some heat from the hot bods at the swimming club..Ya..That’s the bonus.N man!things can go far if u have a sexy and fit body!!!!!
