Stupid Americans…Get a brain morons!!!

Fox News has been showing President Obama’s speech throughout the day. Obama says that he is going to raise the taxes on those companies who ship their jobs outside the border to countries like India and china.He also says that american kids should be mentored well so that they can take on to the “lads from bangalore and beijing”. Obama’s speech was full of contradictions and he’s just trying to cover the deeper revelations that awaits in next few years. Many americans don’t know and don’t give a damn to what is happening with economy. They care about the economy only when they are turned down for loans, mortage or credit cards.They care when their crestupid_american_idiotdit score dives down rapidly for using too much credit.History says that after 19th century, every major international problem has the american factor attached to it. The wars in last two decades, economic crisis ..everything. Jesus…That’s why most people don’t like americans. Well ,people like McDonalds,KFC and Pepsi but not american people.

Alright coming back to the main issue.what exactly is Obama hiding? well he is not saying how exactly he’s going to bring back the jobs from asian giants. How exactly he’s goin to improve the debt condition.Right this momemt ,public debt is around $40,000 per american. That’s lot of amount. American banks are sending out huge amounts to infrastructure companies in china and service industries in india. After all they can lend money to only those people who can pay back the money..right!! And there’s only two countries which have the ability to pay back massive loans and have negligible public debt- India and china. Let’s suppose that Outsourcing is shut down..what will happen? Banks like american express, Bank Of America, Washington Mutual will not be able to sustain their operations because of cost overruns. Auto companies like GM are already taking a beating and are pleading for stimulus.They are trying to cut down expenses and raise the profit margins.Asians are providing “quality service” under a very cheap rate. Their Railways, airlines, Telecom, Banking, even retails are managed and maintained from Off shore locations. It’s the social, economic and technical network and one Obama will never be able to de-tangle it. If they try to withdraw it then they are sealing their fate…they will never be able to recover. One after another the big american companies will fall like dominos.  rogers.php

Personally i don’t have much appreciation for americans. They are the worst of modern human race. But given the fact that much of our clients are americans…so can’t help it. I would like to do business with europeans rather than americans. In larger ways, they are always part of the problem..for them and for others…And when it comes to fix the problem they only think about themselves.

the-united-states-of-stupid  Their leaders are just making fool of them. What they don’t know is within next 2 years their household debt will increase to $100,000. They talk about protectionism..keeping everything within their boundaries. It’s gonna worsen the situation. What they should be saying is building partnership to get support at this crisis. Distribute manufacturing and services to enhance productivity and quality. That will put the sale on upward curve.Sale means profit.simple Economics.Cut down extra spending on irrelevant bills and unnecessary projects  .But the americans don’t want to sit tight. It’s no more 1980s and 1990s.If you cannot buy Burgers and pepper soda then buy a pack of noodles. Minimize the use of credit. That will give lot of breather to Banks. Man! all simple things, just need some dedication and understanding.

I will not be surprised to see if one fine morning americans start yelling socialist slogans and head out to get communist bangel or che Guevara tattoo.

Happy for ICG…

Two happy news:

1) India has decided to procure 145 M777 Light weight towed howitzers to boost up the artillery units. M777 is an ultralight field howitzer (UFH)which can be deployed very swiftly and operated with real ease in tight  fronts. The UFH can be deployed by helicopters, transport aircraft or ships and can be dropped in hot zones. This artillery system is already inducted by US army and Marine forces. The M777 has already been deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. US forces have modified it’s software to fire the Excalibur smart shells.

Talking about firepower, it matches the firepower of current generation 155mm towed systems at less than half the weight.

If i can recall it correctly, Indian army has raised two mountain divisions to tackle china. 15000 soldiers are with each of these division. I am sure these divisions are to be equipped with M777.

2) Indian Goverment is considering a 3 fold expansion of Coast gaurd with nest 10 years. The first phase will see installation of search radars on most of the light houses. The second phase will see the induction of coastal recon aircraft. Two options are to be considered-: Beriew Be-200 Multi role Amphibious aircraft, manufactured by Irkut corp, Russia. The second one is a turbo- prop from the stables of Bombardier.Q 200 from bombardier is an ‘quiet” aircraft if compared to normal turbo prop engines. Many people would say that why Indian Coast Guard is checking turbo prop( aren’t these old horses)..yes they are..but many people don’t know that turbo prob are really efficient in low and mid level altitude while jet engines are efficient in higher alttitudes.

Iam really happy for the ICG, especially.Coast Guard is the force which has never been given it’s due importance.So it’s good to see some light there…good job..hope this plan solidifies.

Mile Sur Mera Tumhara

26th January just passed by- Lotsa things have changed but many golden memories from the past are hard to forget. Like running to school to grab the laddoos and chatting with friends sitting on pale green playground, giving the republic day speech in front of more than thousand students, watching that old Bengali version of netaji movie and listening to war stories from dad. Those moments are no longer in life but the memoirs are so fresh that it feels like these all happened just yesterday.One of the fondest memories about 26th jan and 15 aug was the broadcast of the video of “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”.mile-sur The old video starring some yesteryear actors, actresses,musicians and sportsstars is still a big hit and is like an iconic song.  It holds true to the fact that “Music brings out emotions”. In 1988 doordarshan created this song to instill and promote the sense and relation of unity and progressiveness among indians.

Just yesterday Zoom channel revealed the new video of that old hit and a full programme dedicated to the making of the song.The new song is 16 minutes 26 seconds long.It retains few people from the old video like Mr. Amitabh Bachchan but many are new. “New” is the word and shows the progressive india which still retains the “Old”. It starts with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan standing in front of Taj Palace hotel at gateway of india, singing the opening lines of the song in his rustic voice. Taj will always be on the minds of indians after 26/11. And i think there’s no better place in mumbai to shoot this song. so the opening of the song was really symbolic and touching.But as the song progresses it somewhere loses the shine. Rohit bal does a cameo for the kashmir part, which i think is really stupid. i don’t understand why he’s in the video. Has he done anything which earned him this place or it’s just another page 3 flick? Personally i liked the part which showcases bengal. It has nothing to do with my being a bengali but just to say the fact that it was well shot and composed. Prosenjit, Rituparna and shaan are all deserving and played their part really well.

The new video does “some” justice to the image of India in 21st century but somewhere it lacks the melody and adequate substance of it’s old avatar. So far youtube has received 1221 comments and mostly people are not happy about how the song and video has been treated. I think it’s highly unlikly that the new version will be able to come up to the same podium.Not a chance! But could have been better.

After reading many of the comments i think the video accomplished one thing..bring people together!!…;)

Here are some of the interesting comments posted by users on youtube. Makes an interesting read..

Republicanism: The Reality Check!

India became a republic on 26th Jan 1950. This was the day when we were granted our fundamental rights. However with the course of time, all of us have made our own set of rights(which are not exactly the right things). For instance the right to not pay taxes, right to drink and drive and right to not exercise one’s vote. And many of us take great pride in exercising these. It seems like “RIGHT TO BE WRONG” is the cool thing….or is it?????

 1

Perfect republic is a very slow and fragile process. But the idea of republicanism is a idea which is millennia old. From Rome to Greece and even in ancient india one can find bits and pieces of modern republics. It took ages and big sacrifices to build a free and sustainable nation.So it’s very important that people understand the concept and implications of being a republican nation.It’s true that people don’t understand the importance of those things which are easily or readily available. What if india was a tighter republican country like Russia where civil rights are fairly restricted or like china where you don’t have absolute right of speech.Many people asked me what could have happened if Netaji was elected to form the goverment? It would have been better. But it would have been a hybrid republicnism. Part Authoritarian- Part republicanism. In the wake of economic growth and growing ‘standard of living’ do people still take pride in tri colour which is sold at almost every nukkad. Do these national celebrations stir the same kind of emotions as they used to. People want their kids to learn science, mathematics, swimming , tennis but they cannot take time and teach what is the importance of being a republic, our pledge as a nation and the future course of country.

Even at 61st year it is just a public holiday. For many though, the day holds the moment when a nation was born.Many people say that “I am patriotic”. Oh yes! we are patriotic only on 26 jan and 15 aug and rest of the 363 days we think about being a software engineer and secure a green card or go to some american university to get higher education and never come back to this land. The other day ,sitting in O’ Hara ,i heard few MNC managers saying that “Jana Gana” is our national song. I interrupted , well i cannot possibly stand back and let this pass over me. Man, that was shocking, none of these high fliers knew that “Jana Gana’ is our national anthem and ‘Vande Matram’ is our national song.It was though not that shocking to hear that they don’t know the composers of these songs, that was expected! many people don’t know the sequence of colours in our flag and the sysmbolic significance they hold. Many people don’t even knew that we as indian people , were not allowed to hoist national flag at our home or offices. It was done after Navin Jindal took the matter in court and won.

Many people think that it is utter nonsense to waste time and money to show off military might and cultural bits at India Gate. Is it so? what do you think?

This is the day when we actually became a nation. this is the day which reminds me and assures me that i belong to a sovereign country. the so called show off at india gate is to tell the countrymen that we are safe and no one can deny us our rights.

USE YOUR RIGHTS FOR LIFE AND LIBERTY AND RESPECT THE MOMENT WHICH CAME AFTER MANY SACRIFICES

The titan who destroyed BENGAL

Jyoti Basu was chief minister of west Bengal for straight 23 years. Two days ago he took his last breath in the ICU of Advanced Medicare Research Institute In Salt Lake, Kolkata. For the past few days he was valiantly fighting all that nature threw at him. By the time he died all the vital organs  resigned and he was on life support system. In the eyes of his “devotees” he will remain the finest prime minister India never had. yes! Many people won’t be able to recall that during 1996 election he almost made it to 7 Racecourse. It’s a different and i would say , “fortunate’ thing that his own politburo vetoed out that proposal.Jyoti_Basu_300 Why fortunate? well, many people who are not bengalis or have never lived in bengal would think that he was a legendary communist and leader. Sure he was a leader but look what he did to Bengal. He presided over the fading of “Once glorious state of Bengal”. So i say that those who experienced Basu’s Bengal as opposed to those who idealized it from far would prefer a cold-blooded assessment.

Like me, there are many people who don’t live in bengal anymore. From Bombay to Boston, about every buzzling city has it’s share of bengali refugees. You can find “probashi bongs” who were compelled to re-locate because of contraction of opportunities to different parts of the globe, Only to occasionally return to the land once called the cultural and educational hub of country. West bengal is not a place of contemporary relevance; it’s the place time forgot.Kolkata now is a museum piece. somebody cruel once said that “it’s the worlds largest old people’s home”. You go there as if you are a heritage tourist, a nostalgic junkie or have a particularly beloved patriarch to visit one final time. Many claim, including few of my friends who are die hard communist, that he is worshipped by millions in rural bengal. bb I always wondered how true is this? In the 70’s and 80’s when india was embracing the revolutionary 5 year economic plans and was trying to make small attemps to come out of the days of misery and fallout . Basu deliberately resisted new technology and trade in bengal. State board schools were not allowed to teach english before 6 standard. Computers were kept out of the schools and government offices. Business was hounded and bengal lost that golden shine. What a pity! i remember my maternal uncles used to say that Calcutta looked exactly like London.Those same bronze street lights, stone paved roads and clean and majestic building lines. This was the state which taught indians how to speak english. During british period poets like Tagore and Sarat Chandra were giving European poets run for their money. Education was at it’s best and many used to compare Presidency college, Scottish Church with the best in the world. After basu came to power these colleges became the hub for student politics and hooliganism. Many would remember the ‘cadre-cracy’ of CPM. What happened with all this? As an early industrial state West bengal should have led the march into post industrialisation . With it’s excellent educational institutions and strong middle class, it should have been a service sector’s natural. The first IT companies and IT-ES boom should have happened in Calcutta. Basu didn’t allow this. History will never forgive him. Nor will all those people who are compelled to leave their birth land. Basu was a well travelled man. He himself studies English Honours in Presidency college, Kolkata( I still hear that it’s one the best departments in Literature studies) and also studied law in london. He knew what are the global trends and what will happen if technology and english are driven out of the country, all in the name of anti-elitism. Alright, back to the question..How successful was Basu in Rurals? My state has 18 districts and 14 of these districts are amongst the poorest in india. I ask what has changed. The comrades in communist parties have long cried about inequalities between kolkata and rest of the districts. I ask what have they done about it. People are revolting in Jhargram and Midnapur, many people in north and south dinajpur don’t have enough food for their familes ..they live in mud houses which are washed away by the river flood, every monsoon.

The path he charted, led my land to the heart of Darkness.I wish we can bring him back to life and put him on a public trial. He sent his country men to the period of misery and agony. I really think that he got a very easy death. But I am also sure that in his last few moments he must have asked one question to himself- What have I done?

…….মাঝি রে !

Talk about past memories , I wanted to share this beautiful song from Bong Connection. The song is primarily a bengali song with few verses in hindi which kinda enhance the very essence of the song- The memories from childhood. Composed by Anjan Dutta and sung by Shaan this songs ‘s rendition is that the protagonist is asking the boatman whether he has seen a small paper boat made by him when he was kid.

Pp

Here’s the lyrics. Putting the song in English and translating it will allow everyone to atleast read and understand it. . ( I know that’s not an excuse and won’t hide it that i dont know how to read and write bengali..)

amar prothom dekha brishti-r jol-e
(In the rains that I first saw in my life)

bhasiyechhi bhela khelar chhol-e
(I set afloat a paper boat in playful mood)

sei jol gechhe mishe, kon nodi-te
(Don’t know in which river that water flowed into)

gechhe hariye kon sagar-e
(Don’t know in which sea it has got lost in)

Chorus: ::: Bengali :::
majhi re, o majhi re, dekhechho ki tumi tare? – 2
(Oh Fisherman…. Have you seen it?)

nouko amar, chhele belar, kagoj-er….
(The paper boat of my childood days….)

::: Bengali :::
amar prothom paoya aankar khata,
(My first drawing book that I had got as a kid)

amar prothom lekha kobita,
(The first poem that I had written)

sei chhelbelar, sopno hajar,
(All those thousands of memories that I had in my childhood days)

gechhe hariye kon sagar-e
(Don’t know in which sea they have got lost in)

Chorus: ::: Bengali :::
majhi re, o majhi re, dekhechho ki tumi tare? – 2
(Oh Fisherman…. Have you seen it?)

nouko amar, chhele belar, kagoj-er….
(The paper boat of my childood days….)

::: Hindi :::
neeli ambar si naiyyan meri,
lehorn ki dhunn mein beh chali,
gehre sagar mein tanha kahin,
geeton ko tumhare khojti…

::: Bengali :::
ekta jholse jaoa bikel bela-e,
(On a sun-burnt evening)

ekta laalche sagar-er jole,
(In the red waters of the Sea)

jaye bhese jaye sopno bojha-i,
(There it goes filled with all my dreams)

nouko amar, kagoj-er
(My paper boat)

::: Hindi :::
majhi re, o majhi re, dekha hai kya tumne usse,
majhi re, o majhi re, dekha hai kya tumne usse,
kagaz ki naav, mein hain bhare, sapne mere…. o majhi re……

Here another Beautiful song...One of my favorite.. from Antaheen ;

A New start- For ME, For Cisco!!!

Good Morning!

There are few updates- Firstly, I have revamped the blog third time in this quarter and secondly, Changed the URL of the blog.Why?? well that’s kinda tough question. i thought with so many changes around , perhaps my blog deserved some right changes , like the stupid “4055” from the previous url. Many people asked me about the 4055. Well, it’s no longer there ,so i can actually reveal the “not-so-secret” secret. 4055 was my first bank account- meaning completely opened , managed and owned by me.That was back in the year 2004 when i joined amity. i needed to encash a draft of Rs 28000(it was college hostel refund..I opted out of hostel in the 1st sem itself). so i opened a Savings account(as i didn’t wanted to sent that money back into my dad’s pocket) with Standard Chartered. and that’s how it is!! I have sent podcast and tweets to as many readers as possible. But then also i think many would be left out. I am really sorry about it. I am sure people like ramit and sumi will not be able to find me. But not to worry , i will definitely sent updates to each one’s e-mail ids. But it would take time. Iam pretty busy for last few weeks. Lots of travelling, hell lot of arrangements, my laptop is on round the clock for last few days and iam sleeping in a pile of papers and sheets.

I got little time today- for myself. i wanted to have yoghurt in the breakfast.Unfortunately yogthese guys at O’ Hara say that they dont serve yoghurt during winters.I smiled and said “That’s great. i will take a walk and will find it outside”. The floor service replied“ I will sent somebody to get it for you! You need it now? I said “ that’s ok ! i just wanted to enjoy the streets”. I know , It’s freezing outside but that’s kinda excuse- I wanted to take a walk. i mean life’s like this- doing unusual things on usual days. I went to the a small dairy shop and bought the small pack of sweetened yog..Now i needed a warm and calm place to sit and enjoy the breakfast. I could not think of any better option than Bristo. Well , the staff is really friendly and they were kind enough to allow me to eat the yog inside bristo and also suggested “turkish coffee without milk” . I settled at one of the corners which i find to be warmer than other parts of the resto. I opened the wrapper of yog and started eating . Woh! what a delight! I like eating frozen dairy items during winters. and then john Chambers was on TV.i asked the guy to turn up the volume. Well i knew he was in Detroit and will address many consultants in CES-2010. Iam a big fan of John Chambers.In my opinion he is a legend. He turned Cisco into this giant network hub. In my first year in office i learned many things about him(part of a case study- Six Sigma Implementation). How he took the whole networking business to new heights and now he is taking the company to another level- Consumer networking. Consumer here means normal people.I should say Personal Consumer Networking. Cisco is already a hot shot in modern communication and IT implementation. chambers is talking about taking networking to the most basic level – To the very lives of normal man- a man who listens to his mp3 player every morning or a man who clicks on his blackberry every now and then to get data casts from business sources. Chambers has announced new services for personal social entertainment platform. but the biggest news is that Cisco will provide a Medianet- which is kinda  media- aware IP for video data-network infrastructure , to NBC during the broadcast of winter Olympic games from vancouver . the most interesting thing is that the IP Next-Gen- Network (IP NGN) will alllow NBC people to edit video and data – real time in vancouver, New york and Las vegas and then transfer the data packets to all 3 screens- PC, TV and Smartphones. That’s Awesome.. jon I think this would be a revolutionary step ahead and good that Cisco is heading it. No other company can take it’s place and it feels good to see so much going in this “once-subtle” area of IT. Things are catching up fast and i think within few years people will use improved cisco networking tools and solution right in their personal lives. I myself is considering of setting up a Linksys platform at my home so that i can video chat with my parents. I am sure many people like me – who have parents living alone in some other city -can find it useful. The linksys system comes with all the necessary hardware and software to start a video chat. and now i hear that Cisco is amalgamating it with social networking sites so that you can directly upload video or image.

Ok I have to rush. I dont wanna be late for the office. Ending it, having the future of networking in the hands of companies like Cisco gives great deal of confidence that earth’s population will enjoy, over time, cutting edge networking systems  and communication platforms.

...when I'll come home

when the thorn bush turns white that's when I'll come home
I am going out to see what I can sow
And I don't know where I'll go
And I don't know what I'll see
But I'll try not to bring it back home with me

Like the morning sun your eyes will follow me
As you watch me wander, curse the powers that be
Cause all I want is here and now but its already been and gone
Our intentions always last that bit too long

Far far away, no voices sounding, no one around me and
you're still there
Far far away, no choices passing, no time confounds me and you're still there

In the full moons light I listen to the stream
And in between the silence hear you calling me
But I don't know where I am and I don't trust who I've been
And If I come home how will I ever leave
